Simple Pop up Card

Amazing pop up card idea

Creating a pop up card can seem intimidating but don't get discouraged. I am no pro at this but I love to try new ideas.

I saw that I had to create a pop-up card for my club I am in. I got a little excited and maybe even more nervous about doing this.

Not knowing where to start I asked a friend if she knew how to make one. She showed me a simple way for making one by cutting slits in the fold of the card. Easy enough I thought but I wanted to do something that would challenge me a little more so I googled pop up card. Boy there are so many different ways to make them and a few looked really hard.

I decided to go with a simple pop up card design by Robert Sabuda. I am a huge fan of his books as they are amazing and his cards are just as amazing as his books. He has a few different patterns on his site that look fun. I chose to use the butterfly pattern. Now I wanted to make this my own card so I did change a few things. I used the card pattern to mark a full size card as to where I had to place the butterfly so it would pop up right. Now it was time for me to figure out what to do with the butterfly... How was i going to make it my own...

I had purchased a new cuttlebug embossing plate and I decided it would be perfect. So I embossed all the butterflys, (I made 21 of these cards) colored them with marvey markers and then cut them all out as directed. Now with the easy part done, I had to design the inside of the card. I decided to create a outdoor scene. I started by using 3 different shades of green Marvey Matchable ink pads.

Now don't get me wrong, this was time consuming. I created 21 of these cards and I have found that the assembly line process works out great when doing this.
