Scrapbook Supply List

This scrapbook supply list is great for beginners

If you are new to scrapbooking and are unsure of what to buy first, take a look at the list below to get an idea of what most scrapbookers use when they first start out.

There is no set guideline to tell you what you must have or what you don't really need. It is mostly a matter of perspective. Ask yourself a few questions: How much time do you want to spend working on your new hobby? What kind of scrapbooks will you be working on? Do you have a budget for your purchases? These kinds of questions can help you define what you will initially want to buy to get started.

The Scrapbook Supply List

An Album
This is where you will store your scrapbook pages.
You can read about scrapbook albums here:

Page Protectors
Most albums come with page protectors. These plastic enclosures keep your pages safe from damage while ensuring your scrapbook pages can be viewed easily.

Paper
There are so many different kinds of paper (patterned paper, cardstock, mulberry paper, etc). These papers are used as backgrounds for your pictures as well as for decorative page embellishments.
You can learn more about paper here:

Adhesives
If you can imagine it, the manufacturers have created it – or at least it seems this way. Some adhesives can be used on a multitude of surfaces (paper, fabric and metal) while others are best used for a specific purpose. You will need at least one kind of adhesive to attach your pictures to the background paper.

Paper Trimmer
For ease of cutting, a paper trimmer can be very useful. Scissors do the job, too, but a paper trimmer works better for straight lines. Many trimmers also have the ability to score paper, too, if you want to fold something.
You can see some paper trimmers here:

Decorative Scissors
In spite of what some scrapbookers think, decorative scissors do not go out of style. They are great for adding a paper border to a page or for trimming around a photo.

Pen/Marker/Colored Pencils
When you journal on your scrapbook pages, you will obviously need something to write with. There are a lot of options available, but you don't need to go crazy when starting out. Find a few writing instruments that work well for you and provide some variety to your scrapbook pages.

Ruler
Any ruler will do, but the metal rulers last longer as it is more difficult to nick or break them.

This Scrapbook Supply List is far from complete. It is a great start for beginners, though. If you have any questions about the items mentioned on this page, please feel free to send a message via the "Contact Us" page.

I hope this Scrapbook Supply List is helpful. Don't feel like you need to buy a lot of stuff at once. Just take it one step at a time and you will do very well. It's a delightful hobby and one that can last a lifetime.
